Junior Boys 1A Basketball Districts was hosted on Saturday, February 10 in Hillmond, SK.  It was a great day of basketball with teams representing the Meadow Lake League (Chief Napew Memorial School), The Battle River League (Maidstone Huskies), the Central League (Paradise Hill Panthers), the Beaver River League (Rossignol Huskies (Ile-à-la-Crosse)), and the host Hillmond Outlaws.

The top seeded Hillmond Outlaws had a very easy path to the finals, starting the day with a win against Ile-à-la-Crosse. On the other side, the Maidstone Huskies took a much tougher path to the finals with wins against Paradise Hill and going the distance with Chief Napew the latter game being decided in thrilling fashion by 2-points! All of this led to a big finale of the host Hillmond and Maidstone meeting for the 5th time this season! After a very tight first half in the final game, Hillmond was able to pull ahead and win the District Championship on their home court.

Congratulations to this year’s 1A Boys District Champions the Hillmond Central School Outlaws! Congratulations also to the silver medalist Maidstone Huskies and consolation winners Rossignol Huskies (Ile-à-la-Crosse).
