The SHSAA Office has also received inquiries about the undergarment rule and Canada Basketball approved modifications that were implemented starting last year. The following is a reminder of those rules:
Allowed
- T-shirts are allowed but must be the same color as the uniform – no long sleeves or cut offs.
- Compression t-shirts – allowed in either white, black or color of the uniform, all players must wear the same colour
- Compression Shorts - allowed in either white, black or color of the uniform, all players must wear the same colour
- Compression Arm Sleeves - allowed in either white, black or color of the uniform, all players must wear the same colour
- Compression Leg Sleeves - allowed in either white, black or color of the uniform, all players must wear the same colour
- Headbands/Wristbands - allowed in either white, black or color of the uniform, all players must wear the same colour
Not Allowed
- Long sleeve or cut off t-shirts
- Long sleeve compression shirts
- Long leg compression pants (extend below the knee)
- Bandana’s or loose-fitting headwear (unless for religious purposes)
ALL UNDERGARMENTS MUST BE THE SAME COLOR FOR ALL ON THE TEAM – BLACK, WHITE OR DOMINANT COLOR – I.E. if one player is wearing a black arm sleeve then all players must wear black undergarments.
Exceptions
- Tape and K Tape can be of any colour
- Headwear can be worn for religious purpose as long as not deemed dangerous to the player or others
- Medical exceptions can be made for any of the above as long as approval is provided
- Braces – can be of any colour
- Socks – can be of any colour or length
