NWHSAA Senior Curling Regional Results

The NWHSAA sent 6 teams to various towns in the Battle River District for the SHSAA Regional Curling Championships on Friday February 28th and Saturday February 29th.

Representing the NWHSAA were the following teams

"A" Qualifiers
Boys-Carpenter High School
Girls-St. Walburg
Mixed-Carpenter High School

"B" Qualifiers
Boys-Lloydminster Comprehensive High School
Girls-Lloydminster Comprehensive High School
Mixed-Turtleford

In boys action in Wilkie, the Carpenter Spartans team had a 3-2 record. The boys won 8-5 over Waldheim, lost 8-2 to Spiritwood, won 7-4 over Wilkie, won 11-4 over Lloydminster Comprehensive and lost 6-3 to Spiritwood. As the host team for SHSAA Provincials, they will host seven other teams in Meadow Lake on Friday March 6th and Saturday March 7th. The Lloydminster Comprehensive Barons team went 2-2 on the weekend. The boys defeated Wilkie 8-7, lost 10-1 to Martensville, won 14-3 over Waldheim and lost 11-4 to Meadow Lake Carpenter. 

In girls action in Spiritwood, the St. Walburg Saints team compiled a 3-2 record. The girls won 7-5 over Allan, lost 10-2 to Spiritwood, won 7-6 over Medstead, won 8-3 over Rosthern, and lost 11-2 to Spiritwood. The Lloydminster Comprehensive Barons team compiled a 4-0 record. The girls defeated Medstead 6-3, won 8-7 over Rosthern, won 10-6 over Spiritwood and defeated Spiritwood again 7-5. 

In mixed action in Spiritwood, the Carpenter Spartans and Turtleford Titans both went 0-2 in action. The Spartans lost 8-7 to Dalmeny and 10-1 to Unity while the Titans lost 9-6 to Unity and 9-6 to Spiritwood. 

The district would like to wish best of luck to the Carpenter Spartans boys team as they host provincials in Meadow Lake and Lloydminster Comprehensive Barons girls team as they travel to Allan in their quest for the SHSAA Provincial Curling Championship this upcoming weekend!
