Hoopla Has a Silver Lining for the Maidstone Huskies!
The Maidstone Huskies advanced to Hoopla, SHSAA's provincial basketball Championships on March 18, when they defeated Meath Park 76 - 63 to win their regional.
At Hoopla, the #2 ranked Huskies played the #3 ranked Valley Christian Academy from Osler in the semi-final. After jumping out to an early lead, the Huskies saw VCA battle back to make this a tight game at the half.
The second half saw the Huskies regain their lead, which they maintained to the conclusion for a 73 - 57 victory.
In the final, the Huskies faced the #1 ranked and defending provincial champions, Ecole Cannadienne from Saskatoon.
The game stayed even for much of the contest before Ecole Cannadienne went on a short spurt in the second half to build a small lead which the Huskies could never close, falling 79 - 69.
The NWHSAA congratulates the players and coaches on an excellent season and their SHSAA silver medal!
